Engineer Entrepreneur Executive Director Master's student at MIT FIRST Robotics mentor

Never stop being a beginner.

I'm Thomaz Pinelli, an engineer, entrepreneur, husband and father of Pedro, Luiza and Manuela. I built my career in industry, went broke, started over and today I lead the Teagá companies. I founded and still mentor Alphabots 1860, a FIRST Robotics Competition team, and I went back to school, now at MIT and Harvard. I share all of it on social media, in talks and in mentoring.

What I talk about

  • Corporate: 13 years at Johnson & Johnson
  • Entrepreneurship
  • FIRST Robotics Competition
  • I've gone broke: mistakes, fresh starts and what I learned
  • Academia: my path and tips for getting in
  • Technology, industrial and beyond
  • MIT and Harvard: what I'm learning at the two best universities in the world

About me

A path always under construction

I started early, at my family's store. By 12 I already had a job outside, as an office boy. Engineering took me into industry, industry took me into management, and the urge to build took me into entrepreneurship. Today I still run the businesses, and I went back to the classroom because I still have a lot to learn.

  1. ETEP building with the institution's sign

    ETEP: Electronics Technician

Technical school was where my path in engineering began.

  2. Aerial view of the Johnson & Johnson plant with the brand's water tower

    Johnson & Johnson: Engineering Manager

In industry, I learned to connect technical knowledge, management and accountability for results.

  3. ETEP building with the institution's sign

    ETEP: Electrical Engineering

I broadened my engineering foundation while building my professional experience.

  4. Historic USP building

USP: Graduate Program in Business and Project Management

Studying management changed the way I look at projects, people and business.

  5. Teagá building with a quadruped robot in the foreground

    Teagá: Executive Director

Entrepreneurship brought the responsibility of building companies, developing teams and making decisions every day.

  6. MIT's Great Dome seen from the lawn

MIT: Master's Student in System Design and Management

I became a student again to connect new ideas to the challenges I face in the companies.
